Conference Overview

The NECCT takes place Friday, November 14 to Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Duke University in Durham, NC.

The Northeast Conference on Chinese Thought is an annual gathering that offers graduate students and professors of Chinese thought an opportunity to share their work in a collaborative and intellectually vibrant environment.

The organizers of NECCT share a commitment to interdisciplinary dialogue. Presenters at NECCT 2025 are academics working on Chinese thought from a variety of disciplines and methodologies, including but not limited to philosophical, historical, philological, religious, and aesthetic perspectives, as well as comparative work on common themes in Chinese thought.

We are grateful for the support of Duke University’s Department of Philosophy, the Center for Comparative Philosophy, and the Harmony Humanities Lab.

Panels are organized around themes in order to connect scholars working on similar issues in the Northeast United States, fostering dialogue that advances the study of Chinese thought.

Presenters and attendees can expect to hear about innovative ideas and cutting edge issues in Chinese thought. Participation in terms of constructive questioning and productive dialogue is encouraged.
